The king remembers his ex-queen and is sad, but his servants remind him of the next steps that will be taken shortly to find a new queen: By gathering each and every beautiful eligible virgin from every corner of the kingdom (whether they like it or not)! The king approves the execution of this plan and his servants and authorities get working on it.
KING KHASHAYAR:
Oh my ex-queen Vashti
Why did you have to hurt me
Since the law can’t be just reversed
You can never return
Wasn’t Vashti the best?
Of all women, who can contest?
Now there’s no one to own her throne,
And I’m getting concerned!
SERVANTS:
Hold on, not yet, all’s well, don’t fret!
We understand it’s hard competing with Vashti
But it’s our duty to provide a better she
Let there be young virgins,
beautiful and pure,
and let the one that pleases you
be forever yours.
My king, appoint each man
to gather hand-in-hand
the situation’s urgent
to gather virgins
from each and every state in the land
And place them in your fortress
into the women’s quarters.
We know who will take good care of them
Hegai!
And there will they be purified
And there will they be beautified
And then will they be qualified
to enter into your eyes!
Someone that you will love
Someone pure as a turtledove
Someone people will see and say, she’s a grand work of art!
Someone better than best
Shining brighter than all the rest
Someone people will compliment, she’s the sweetest of hearts!
Let’s start, the search
Let one, emerge
A proper queen that glorifies your majesty
KING KHASHAYAR:
Let’s commence the search for someone meant for me!
[instrumental]
The guitar was recorded from a live jamming session with the flamenco maestro Marcyo Bonefon, with only Benjamin later singing all the parts. It is more scaled down as it is still in production. This brings me to my next point: Even though the the musical is meant to have a huge epic orchestra or a huge band with a lot of ethnic instruments, it can also be done just with a flamenco guitar if the budget doesn’t permit, which makes the musical accessible to as many theaters, as many productions, and as many people as possible.
I hope you see the power of the flamenco guitar! But of course, it will be more complete with a cajon, a violin, and a few cymbals, and possibly a percussion, utilizing just three talented musicians, which would sound like a million bucks on budget productions.
